Official Signups

Hiya! It's Mari. If you're here, that means that you followed my Twitter link or I not-so-gently nudged you in this direction. I know there was a lot of interest in the round-robin, so here's an official signup thread.

I moved this to Dreamwidth because honestly I don't think Tumblr is a super place for collaboration like we want to do? You don't have to make an account to comment (though you can if you want to right here!), just maybe put your name in the subject line of your comment or something if you're doing it as a guest so I can keep track of you. Ideally, you would all make accounts just because that means that you can also post questions and your chapters for the group as they're finished, but I don't want to make anyone make another social media account, so you can also just message me on Tumblr/Twitter and I'll post for you.

Aha and I thought that we could make polls here but apparently that costs money so here's a poll for you to choose your preferred method of organizing for this round robin. If there's a strong desire to move it somewhere else, I'll switch to Twitter or Tumblr or whatever. You can also follow this Twitter account to be alerted to new updates to this blog, or (if you have an account) hit that little alarm bell at the top/bottom of this entry and you can select to get an email every time the blog has a new entry.

Now the fun stuff! A round-robin is a collaborative writing project where we all write in rounds. So first I might write a chapter, then I pass it on to Aimee, then she writes a chapter and passes it to Turtle, and so on and so forth. Depending on how many people are in the group in the end, we'll each wind up writing one or two chapters, I think. And then in the end, we have a really great finished project for the fandom to enjoy!

Once people are signed up, I'll put up polls about how y'all want to do this- as one huge group or in smaller chunks, whether we'll post as we write or post all together when it's done, etc etc. Please feel free to bring up any questions or ideas you have in the comments to this post, and I'll add them to the intro post after signups.

Signups will run from April 19 until April 25. I don't want this to become a massive behemoth of a project with wayyy too many people for even one chapter each- which is why I tried to keep it to Twitter- but I also don't want it to be super exclusive or whatever, so if you know of someone who you think would really want to be involved with this, feel free to send them here. There's zero pressure on you to be involved in this all the way through. You can sign up and be involved in plotting and outlining and then back out for your actual chapter and I will not curse you to eternal dreams of Captain Hook, I promise. (Do I have this power? WHO KNOWS.)

Your signup comment should include the following:

Dreamwidth username (if you have one):
AO3/fanfiction.net username (both or either, whichever you have):
Twitter/Tumblr (both or either, whichever you have):
When you'd prefer to write your chapter (beginning, middle, or end of the fic):
Beta for other members if they need one? (yes, no):
Can you pinch-hit if someone backs out? (yes, no):
Any other questions and comments:

Once we have the signups and I have a good estimate of how many people we're working with, I'll put up a basic timeline and organize everyone by dates. I think we'll probably start the actual writing in mid-May, probably a flexible 2-5k per chapter, one every two weeks.

Please start thinking about the kind of plot you think would work for a story like this (Could be a standard plot or a season rewrite! Could be an alternate reality where everything is changed somehow (though I think maybe not an alternate universe this time)! Could be an adventure through assorted fairytales or a story that spans our heroes' lives! Could be a new trope with a coherent plot running through them all! Could be something I haven't thought of! The sky's the limit!) so we can get to discussing that next week, and don't be afraid to commit yourself because REALLY. NO PENALTY FOR BACKING OUT. I just want your brains and I will ply you in any way possible. That's so creepy wow. I'm gonna stop talking now.
